This is a hand shaped ceramic penguin figurine. Due to its handmade nature it is a unique piece. I used white clay for this one which is one of my favorite clays. It looks very beautiful with like these blazing colors.

Each item is made one by one at hand with much love and care. The making of ceramic has many stages. First clay gets its form, the object is let to dry a few days, then burrs are retouched and it goes into the kiln. It is fired at 1000 degree Celcius (1900 Fahrenheit). After first firing it is ready to glaze. After the glaze has dried it is fired again at 1040 degree Celcius (1920 Fahrenheit). After 19 hours of firing and cooling, it is ready.

One of my favorite Wallace & Gromit films is The Wrong Trousers. Headlining it is Feathers McGraw, the villain, who is also a penguin. So when I saw this, I snatched it up. Like the dinosaur, it also made a very, very, very long journey from Turkey to the US, thanks to the postal services, especially the one in New York. But huzzah, it finally arrived. Wonderfully made, top quality, it's a triumph. Feathers McGraw will be strategically placed throughout the house, depending on the whim of the day. If you like penguins, this is the piece for you.
