American Grotesque Playing cards introduce an array of Trump era loyalists, and his 2016 opponent, in a poker-size deck that you can really use. These humorous distortions are all made from actual photographs of the persons depicted. In some cases, they are not easily recognized. We've got you covered. The back of each card contains a QR code that will take you directly to the pictured person's Wikipedia page. Not only fun, and funny, but educational as well. Get 'em while they're hot. They may soon be a collector's item of a bygone period.
Here's the tl;dr:
I started this project when experimenting with shooting images through a glass block. The block has wavy patterns the create humorous or even ominous distortions. Each image is digitally captured, edited, and composited in Adobe Photoshop, and finished in Affinity Publisher. The cards are printed by MPC - makeplayingcards.com in Guangdong, China (Chinese people have to eat, too.)
