Once I download from Etsy, how will I use my design?

Once downloaded, each design will be in the form of one compressed file that contains all machine brands file types and all sizes of the design. This file will be named something like Mickey.zip. Please see, How do I un-compress a .zip file?

A .zip file is a compressed archive containing one or more files that have been compressed to reduce its size. Zipping a file is useful to spare up to 80% or more storage space. Additionally, zipping big files enables users to upload and send them faster over the internet, simultaneously decreasing the chance of it being corrupted. Users can also use .zip format to encrypt their data for extra security. There is plenty of software that can be used to unzip files. However, your computer is generally already equipped with a built-in program that can perform the task just fine.

How do I un-compress a .zip file

Windows Right-click the file that you want to decompress and choose Extract All. Choose the directory where you want to keep the extracted files and click Extract. It is optional to check the box underneath if you need to see the content immediately after the extraction is done. The files that were inside the .zip now can be found in the location you picked in step two. macOS Archive Utility is Mac’s built-in tool that handles the .zip format. To unzip a file, follow these steps: Double-click on the file you want to unzip. Once extracted, the file will appear in the same folder as its archive. I will not go into 3rd party tools.

COLOR: Depending upon any additional software you own, you may be able to recolor portions of your design. Colors are ordered to minimize thread changes which will limit the recoloring of objects as they will be grouped by color, not by individual object in most software. SIZE: You can resize your design 10% larger or smaller, but beyond that integrity of the design will be compromised. ADD/DELETE ELEMENTS: Depending upon any additional software you own, you may be able to add or deleted text or portions of your design. Colors are ordered to minimize thread changes which will limit the deletion of objects as they will be grouped by color, not by individual object in most software.

Absolutely not. These designs are property of Purple Cow and any portion of the embroidery design may not be sold in any digital or physical form.

Can I sell items I make with Purple Cow Designs?

YES! Stitch away. Sell on your own site, in person, on Etsy. Do you need to give Purple Cow credit? No. Please just don't claim that you are the designer. If you would like to give me credit, I would love a shout out. I would also be happy to post your photos with credit back to you. I think we compliment each other. We don't compete for the same buyers.

What type of guarantee does Purple Cow offer?

Due to the digital nature of our designs and their ability to be downloaded instantly, refunds and exchanges are not offered. We have a firm policy on this. If you have difficulty downloading your designs, please send me a message. I am not liable for items that may be harmed during a stitch out. It is highly recommended that you do a test stitch out PRIOR to your main embroidery as results may vary depending on your fabric, stabilizing, hooping etc. Please contact me with concerns.

Software Compatibility

I do not guarantee designs will work with software. There are so many proprietary software packages that I do not have access to, I cannot guarantee that these designs will be compatible with all software packages. I do guarantee they will work with your machine. I have had issues with older machine not having the most current firmware. If you encounter an issue where your machine will not recognize a design, please contact me. This is a common issue and easily resolved. This is particularly prevalent in Brother machines.
