19th C Linen Peasant Shirt, Smock, Blouse, Peasant Shirt
ja 9302002

Charming French peasant shirt with country charm. For chore wear and
has been well worn with a mass amount of old darns around the collar and
in other areas, with signs of many years of use. Entirely handsewn. Smock
style with an unusual drawstring gathering at the back. One mother of pearl
button at the top and replacement buttons at the sleeves (porcelain and
mother of pearl). Lightweight linen. There is the tiniest monogram we
have ever seen, looks like L M in red thread. This was most likely a mens
shirt and from the early to mid 1800s. Linen.

Measurements; 24.5" length, 38" chest (taken from under arms), sleeve
length 24" (taken from under arms), 16" shoulder seams across.

Well worn with many darns. Button replacements (although period). This
piece is a work wear piece and shows its many years of use.

A truly delightful historic textile with oodles of French country charm. All cleaned, pressed and ready to enjoy.
