Scherenschnitte Ornaments, German Paper Cutting, Scherenschnitte Christmas, 3-Dimensional Paper Ornaments, German Folk Art,

This 3-dimensional hanging ornament brings traditional elegance hung on a Christmas tree or from a window. It is the perfect little gift tucked into a greeting card - you can include the ornament as a gift without spending any additional postage! Simply open up the sides and gently crease the fold, it folds flat again for storage year after year.

Scherenschnitte, or, "scissor cuts" in German, is the art of paper cutting design. The art tradition was founded in Switzerland and Germany in the 16th century and was brought to Colonial America in the 18th century by Swiss and German immigrants who settled primarily in Pennsylvania. My Scherenschnitte ornaments are completely cut by hand - no laser cutting! Each ornament is made up of two identical cuttings which are machine stitched together in the center - when folded out - the ornament becomes 3-dimensional. The two designs: “Tree of Life” and “Angels Rejoicing” are traditional German patterns.
