This antique framed tapestry is made of cotton
in France

It is labeled with two labels,
one from the jewelry store where it was sold,
Blakes, in Farmington, Maine.
The store was in business for 159 years
and was bought in 1929 when the name was changed to Trask Jewelers.

The other label is from the makers
Medal of Honor
La France Textile Industries
in Frankford, Philadelphia
which was designed for the international exposition
in 1926.

This is framed in a lovely old painted and gesso frame
with gold trim.
It has some flakes and losses, but overall, this is in really good shape.

The textile is probably faded over time,
but it is intact, not holes or losses.

It has a paper backing, which is almost intact
but the ribbon for hanging it is broken.
It will need a new wire.

A really great old piece.
94 years young.
