Mittens! May we never get too old for mittens. After all, they keep our hands warmer than gloves. And these Pop Top Mittens are the answer to keeping hands warm when we need the dexterity of our fingers.
When you need to fiddle with keys, thumb through mail, snap a picture, answer a cell phone, or clip a dog leash, the Pop Tops allow fingers to be free without removing the whole mitten.
These Pop Tops are a quick-to-knit and portable project. Instructions are included for palm circumferences of 7-10" (18-25.5 cm). Be sure to measure your hand before beginning. The palm circumference is the most important measurement to consider. Beyond that, you can lengthen or shorten the mittens to fit any hand!
Instructions can be worked with double pointed needles or two circular needles. Magic loop method is not recommended for this project. There is a section where you will be using 2 different size needles to complete the round.
Note: This is the companion pattern to the original PopTop Mittens, written for kid's sizes 2-10 and also available in my shop.
Skills Required: Knitting in the round, basic decreases, make one (M1), grafting, basic crochet (chain, slip st, and single crochet)
