Seller's description

"Stories of Old" Bison Mug – Art by John Timothy

Rich in history and meaning, “Stories of Old” by Oklahoma Muscogee (Creek) artist John Timothy features a powerful bison set against a vibrant parfleche-inspired design. This piece reflects on a pivotal time in history and honors the deep connection between Native peoples and the bison.

By the mid-19th century, an estimated 200,000 bison were being killed annually. By the end of the century, only around 300 remained in the wild—forever impacting the lives and traditions of many Native American communities of the Great Plains. This artwork serves as a reminder of resilience, history, and survival.

The image is sublimated onto a ceramic coffee mug for a vivid, long-lasting finish. Proudly made and coated in America, this mug is designed for everyday use and is microwave and dishwasher safe.
