It would be illegal for me to misrepresent an item and its value to US customs, as well as any foreign country's customs center. Also, as a seller, if I don't follow the rules for customs, I could also get in trouble with the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). PLEASE consider what you will have to pay in customs fees/taxes BEFORE you commit to a purchase in my shop. THAT said, costume jewelry can often be marked as costume and scrap value (under $35)...you may go this route, not insured.

Customers who refuse to pay the customs taxes & fees, and then send back the package (their purchase) will be charged for the return shipping and given a store credit for the balance. Restocking fees may also apply...for example, if it is a seasonal item.

In describing the condition of a vintage or antique item, you have to keep in mind, these items are not 100% perfect. If they are vintage, they're at least 20-99 years old. If they are antique, they're at least 100 years old. Please refer to all the photos as a part of the item's description. Please always feel free to ask questions if you have any concerns at all about condition, color, etc. I have a 10x magnifying light that I use to inspect all my pieces for any significant imperfections. Precious gemstones are often inspected and verified by a GIA certified gemologist as well.

The reason for honest, small businesses to do this is simple: to keep costs (thus prices) down when dealing with return of items that ARE as described. There are costs (time is money) associated with processing an order AND a return. If you buy something then return it, the business has to take time to handle the return. Restocking fees are a statement by businesses that they feel the person who decides to return a good item should pay for the associated cost of time. This is perfectly fair. Most businesses charge up to 25%, and mine is 20%. Additionally, when the item was "taken off the market" by the sale, people who had it on their wish list crossed it off, thinking it was sold...therefore, potential buyers are lost.
