This chestnut stool has been crafted by hand, using hand tools and traditional techniques. Each stool is unique, its final state determined by the natural colours and curves of the wood. The chestnut is sourced locally from right outside my workshop door here in France, and the forests that neighbour our house.

You will see the marks of this handmade item, which are left pronounced intentionally, adding more texture to something I believe is not just functional but beautiful as well. The way light will ripple across a leg, rather than cut a perfectly straight line, intrigues and entices. Enhanced here by the grey undercoat. This log was once destined to be burnt on the fire but now has been turned into something that will last many lifetimes.

Coated in a low VOC (A+) water based oil finish to retain the natural tones of the wood and allow for easy cleaning. This stool is wonderfully useful around the house as functional furniture or just as a decorative piece for books or plants!
