Although I love DIY of all kinds this was my FIRST time sewing, my first time with a sewing machine, and my first time with a pattern. Bc of this I did find the instructions a little confusing. Mostly the part about cutting out the 4 sections that printed out and assembling them to make the hood pattern. I probably would have gotten it right away if there was a picture of that step. But besides that it went great. And even as a novice it turned out ADORABLE just like the photo! I used textured Minky green fabric for the outside and the little raised dots made it look more like dragon hide :) Its great for halloween in the North bc its like wearing a warm blankey!
The final product is so cute. My daughter is thrilled to be a "pink dragon" for Halloween. However, some of the directions are a bit confusing. Once I figured out what the pattern intended, it was easy. Also, I had to draft the cape based on the instructions. That felt more like a blog tutorial than pattern. The eyes look a little funny in the pattern- I painted the button and gave it a more sylized eye shape.
I haven’t a photograph as this has been sent as a present. I found this a good & easy to follow pattern, I used some linen I had that was the right colour and I didn’t line it but finished all raw edges on my overlocker. I used a mixture of fabrics for the spines and used stiff interfacing on each piece so that the spines would stand up. All together an easy to make but effective dress up costume.
My daughter wanted to dress up as a dinosaur for her birthday so I was thrilled when I found this cape pattern. It is easy to follow and didn’t take long at all. I did have some trouble when it came to sewing the tail and had to partially hand stitch but it worked out just fine. It was such a success that now my other daughter and nephews all want one of their own. Also the fleece makes so super snuggly they will be great in the colder months. (I used my own eye design).
