Cheng Sau was the most famous and feared Chinese female pirate in history. She was the terror of the South China Sea and led 500 men in the early 1800’s. No doubt she was the most powerful female pirate in history.

The Pattern:
You can download and print this pattern with two descriptions. One version with no photos for cheaper printing, and the other with photos that you can look at on your iPad or computer as you sew the bag. The pattern comes in a separate PDF. The pattern pieces are color-coded according to the fabrics you use, and there are labels you cut out to pin to the pieces of fabric you have cut. There is also a material list, telling you what you need of fabrics and hardware to make this bag. There is a cutting list as well, to tell you how many of each pieces you need to cut, and in which fabric.

The Bag:
The front pocket compartment has a vertical zipper on each side, with a pocket open in the middle. Each zipper has a faux binding on each side. The back features curved decor panels at the top and bottom, and a gusset at the bottom to make the bag more spacious. The back has two zipper pockets and the inside lining features a zipper pocket and a slip pocket divided in two. The 4 tassels can be a nice decorative touch. So are the rivets on the handle, strap connectors and top edge. Two big rings connect the strap to the bag and the straps are made with two different fabrics.
