This original watercolor painting is one of my "Watercolor Wanderings" — my latest painterly excursion in abstracting my beloved New Mexico landscape.

This is a colorful, joyful series. In a way these paintings comprise my Muse's diary pages.

These started as studio musings intended for no one but myself, as a way for me to warm-up the creative juices and get my Muse thinking about ways to merge representational landscape with passages of abstraction. The plan was to do them quickly, and then move on to other painting projects. I had done a handful of them here and there over several days....

And then the 2020 pandemic hit.

With anxiety mounting everywhere, I realized that in order to help ground me and calm me, I needed to ensure that I was making art every day.

So I decided to make these watercolor paintings a daily rather than occasional creative practice.

I further decided to share these paintings publicly with my friends and followers, in hopes of cheering my community with their bright colors. And maybe — just maybe — these daily "isolation paintings" of mine might inspire others to pick up a brush and start their own daily creative practice.

Regardless, it's been pleasure painting and sharing these!


I'd like to think that any of these Watercolor Wanderings would make a perfect gift for anyone who loves the New Mexico landscape and appreciates colorful, contemporary painting. And so here they are!

This is an original, one-of-a-kind watercolor painting on paper by Dawn Chandler.

As with any original watercolor painting on paper, this painting should be framed behind glass and displayed away from direct sunlight.

FRAME: None; unframed
PACKAGING: Ships flat wrapped in a clear plastic protective envelope, placed with a white backing board in a stiff white chipboard envelope; this package is then placed in a larger Kraft chip board mailer.
