Seller's description

TO ORDER Two square terracotta tiles with a 6in ( 15cm ) side, hand painted with engobe and fired in kiln at 1796°F ( 980°C ) so that the painting was completely incorporated into the clay.
They have a hook for hanging.

On one I painted the goddess Athena ( Minerva for the Romans ) in arms with helmet, spear and head of the Medusa gorgon on her chest.
On the other I painted the bird sacred to Athena, the owl with wide eyes and two olive branches, tree sacred to the goddess.

The warrior goddess, skilled in strategies, was above all the goddess of wisdom and the owl, with large eyes capable of seeing even in the dark, was the symbol.

A nice gift for a degree, a wish to face life with the knowledge acquired, fighting when necessary.

I chose the figures from scenes of Greek red-figure vascular painting: the image of Athena from a famous kylix preserved in Madrid and the owl from an ancient Attic vase.

Excellent home decor with a touch of classicism.

“Giuseppina made the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I am so moved by her care, dedication, and love that went into this urn. The likeness to my late cat is perfect. The quality is stunning. If anyone is on the fence, I urge them to order. Photos do not do this beautiful urn justice. Giuseppina also packaged it very carefully, and left a little note inside the urn that moved me deeply. It was hard to see my little friend's face again, but I am so glad Giuseppina made her urn. The urn now sits in my bedroom where my late cat used to sleep. It's perfect She went above and beyond when my package got stuck in transit - including making a second one and shipping it. I am so grateful to her and her hard work. I would order ten more. THANK YOU GIUSEPPINA!! It means more than works can convey. Deep gratitude and love - Lauren”
