Yes. We use solid brass for the quality and durability. Brass will naturally oxidize, which will discolor the leather. But our vendor uses a protective coating, that slows the tarnish process. You may want to consider selecting the brushed nickel or black plated brass hardware, or choose a darker color of leather, to disguise the tarnish.

Yes, because this is animal skin. However, scratches do not affect the quality or durability of the leather. We recommend buffing in a leather conditioner. Even buffing the leather with a soft t-shirt, can diminish the appearance of the scratches.

We don't recommend using leather in water- especially for water sports (as the leather can stretch & possibly fall off). If your collar does happen to get wet/soaked, lay flat and allow to air dry naturally (no heat source). If you bathe your dog, wait until fur is completely dry before putting the collar back on. *When wet, there may be slight color rub off, especially on light haired pets.

Unfortunately, no. BUT, we do try to capture the color as best we can!
We use vegetable tanned leather. Each piece of this leather can accept dye differently (from the tannery; we do not dye the leather ourselves). So, color may vary from strip to strip, and from screen to screen.
The edges of the leather will not be dyed to match the front & back. For tiny sizes, the back may be skived, and missing the dyed backing. *Natural & black are the exception.
Our color chart is our interpretation of our colors. Your opinion may vary on the name of colors. We do our best to be accurate.

We recommend measuring the center of your pet's neck (see measuring guide). If you don't see the size that you need, contact us to help choose a size. *There is No standard sizing for dog collars.

Yes, most likely. We are known for our durable, thick collars (6-10 oz). The leather starts firm, and becomes more pliable as it breaks in with wear and use.

This is a real, genuine veg tan leather, and it takes time to break in. This type of leather always has to be broken in, and is a high quality leather. Please do not bend the leather too tight or too much, as this may crack the surface or cause wrinkling.

1) Measure around the neck, slightly above center.
2) Make sure tape measure is flat and snug. Do NOT place any fingers under the tape measure.
3) Add 1/2" for small & medium dogs; 1" for large dogs. (Look for the size where your measurement falls in the MIDDLE of our size ranges)

No flexible tape measure?
1) Wrap a string around your dog's neck (as above), and make a mark on the string where they meet. Measure from the end of the string to the mark.
2) Measure their current collar:
a) For a center bar buckle; measure from the bend to the last worn hole.
b) For a quick release buckle; measure from the opening to the connector where the ends meet (the "seam" when snapped together).

1) Cut the strip from a whole side of leather. 2) Cut strip to size. 3) Punch holes for hardware. 4) Slick the edges. 5) Stamp the size. 6) Fasten hardware. 7) Pack & ship.
