Now with size layers
This is not a printed pattern. This is a PDF digital download.
You will receive links to several files immediately upon ordering which will be sent to the email used to order. You will receive several files meant to be printed letter size: How to print, the front and back cover, and the sewing instructions. You will receive several A0 size files: One file contains all the pattern pieces in color and solid lines, one that contains all the pattern pieces in black and white in dashed lines and size layers, one file that is black and white in sizes 4-18 with size layers, and one with black and white in sizes 20-34 with size layers. This means you can print just the size you want either in A0 size at a copy shop, or you can tile it yourself by printing the A0 pages using the "poster" option in Adobe Acrobat to any size paper. If you are unable or unwilling to install free PDF reader software, such as Adobe Acrobat or Foxit on your device, the pattern files have been pre-tiled for you to print on your home printer. Please note that if you choose to use the pre-tiled files, you cannot choose any size paper other than letter or A4 and the size layer function will not work.
Pattern #138
LADIES REGENCY Gown - Back Closing with 5 Sleeve Options C. 1815 - 1825 Sizes 4 - 34 Included
#138 Ladies Back Closing Regency Gown with three neck options and five sleeve options. There are instructions if the maker wishes to change the neckline to one of their own design. Views A and B use a short sleeve with optional cutouts. View A uses the cutout short sleeve with either a
ribbon made from fabric, or a purchased ribbon, woven through the cutouts. View B has gathered puffs protruding from the cutouts resembling slash and puff (or pouf) Renaissance style sleeves.
View C uses a double layer petal edge short sleeve, with both layers having a faced edge. View D uses the short sleeve without cutouts paired with the long sleeve which can be layered either over or under the short sleeve. The long sleeve can be gathered in at the wrist alone or at several places on the arm. The gown has a separate belt which can be omitted or replaced with a purchased ribbon sash. The skirt has front, side back, and back pieces. The back of the skirt attaches to the bodice with 6 pleats on each side, with the center 2 pleats forming a box pleat. The skirt is the same length all the way around. The bodice in all views is formed with a front, side, and back pieces. The back of the bodice can close with an overlap, or as in some period examples, can close so that the center backs just meet. Optional piping can be added to seams, belt, and bands, and instructions for creating piping are included. The neckline is finished with bias binding, which may or may not be piped as desired. The skirt can be left plain or elaborately trimmed. There are also instructions for finishing the bottom of the hem with wide cording if desired. There are yardages and instructions for the two types of skirt trim shown on View C and D, both petal (zig zag) and scalloped trim.

Please note for the experienced stitcher - The sleeves are interchangeable with pattern #137 Spencer and Pelisse but there are no layouts for the interchangeable options. You will have to estimate the yardage needed and interpret the instructions between patterns.

The number of choices included inthe pattern seem to cover a range of Regency styles. Good value for the money.

To start, the customer service was EXCELLENT when I was having problems with the pattern and with finding the instructions. This pattern contains a lot of files, so look at everything before you begin or print anything. I made the mistake of printing all 125 pages from my home printer before looking through all the information. My only bit of feedback is that it would be easier to have the page numbers or guide marks in larger print or darker print because the home printer I used cut off the page numbers. I want to make it clear that this was not the problem of the pattern maker. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the page numbers were larger or if there were piece numbers in the middle of each page.
