Great Mullien: Verbascum thapsus (aka Jacob's Staff, Flannel Leaf, "Candlestick") - Biennial - 7-8 ' - Full Sun - does not like wet soil
Listing is for seeds harvested 2022 from mullein grown in my garden, which of course is chemical and pesticide free.
Mullein is an easy to grow herb, often seen in disturbed areas such as fields and ditches. A multi-purpose herb, its flowers, leaves and root offer many healing properties. It is a fascinating medicinal herb which can also be planted as an ornamental flower. The stock, covered with bright yellow flowers, can grow to 7 feet. It's stature makes this biennial herb plant excellent for backgrounds or as a focal point in a flower or vegetable garden. Mullein seeds are a favorite food for many different birds including American Goldfinch and Indigo Bunting. Mullein also attracts a range of butterflies, moths, bees and other beneficial insects.
Mullein has been used as an alternative medicine for centuries. Among other uses, It is known as a safe and effective herbal cough remedy. It is considered an expectorant, and a tonic for the lungs, mucus membranes, and glands. When making Mullein tea make sure you strain the infusion through a cloth.
