ITEM DESCRIPTION :

This is a semi-antique (60 years old) authentic grain sack rug. A tribal cargo bag or rug from Western Turkey (Aegean region) Grain sacks/bags (also called as cuval in Turkish) are used for the storage and transport of grain, it was often used as clothing storage bag too.

It has two faces (back and front different looking as seen on the photos)The front is decorated with horizontal stripes with traditional Anatolian multicolored figures. On the back flat horizontal stripes (without motifs)in five different color (black-orange-red-blue-green)

A very unique small wood pieces on it’s both side which symbolizes “evil eye” belief and tradition of shamanic nomad Turks.

Hand spun high quality natural colored wool.

These ethnic sacks are being used as big pillows also to be stuffed to make a large floor cushion.
In order to decorate your home, it can be wonderful as a Wall hanging, but also if opened can serve as small rug too.

These handwoven sacks woven exclusively for domestic use, with very little change over generations, these sacks were probably the best preservers of centuries-old traditions. These bags are another remarkable reminder of how creative art and functionality combine in the Anatolian culture. Sadly today, this tradition has virtually ceased.

Decorated sacks were used by the Anatolian nomads at times when they were completely nomadic. These sacks/bags were highly decorative either when lined up along the inside of the tents or, attached to their camels when making the seasonal migrations across Turkey. Even after some nomads stopped using camels as their mode of choice, a young girl was still required to weave one or two camel bags for her dowry.

When some of the Anatolian nomads started to settle in villages, usually at one of their migrational camp areas, their houses still resembled the one-room tents reminiscent of their recent past.

This such a unique piece will create a fabulous mood of warmth and color to make any room shine. Add a touch of Turkish ethnic presence to your home decor.

I hate selling such things and cheating people !

Yesss there are original Turkish antique or vintage rugs without processed but impossible to buy for 200-300 dollars.

A real handwoven double knotted original Turkish rugs goes for centuries (not kidding) Passing to next generation as a family relic . That’s why our rugs are most important and common dowry pieces of our brides. That’s why oldest rug of the world is a Turkish Rug . “Pazirik Rug”

The oldest surviving knotted carpet is the Pazirik rug, excavated miraculously in the frozen tombs of Siberia, dated from the 5th to the 3rd century B.C., now in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.

“The Pazirik rug is one of the oldest carpets in the world, dating around 5th c. BC. The Pazirik rug was found in 1949 in the grave of a Scythian nobleman in the Bolshoy Ulagan dry valley of the Altai Mountains in Kazakhstan. The Pazirik rug had been frozen in the ice and it was very well preserved. The rug has a ribbon pattern in the middle, and a border which has deer, and warriors riding on horses.”

All beauties that you see at my store collecting by me over 12 years and very well preserving since the day I bought. When it’s need to be washed i do it by myself using %100 natural olive oil soap or baby shampoo
