Antique Georgian/Victorian 15ct Gold Locket

In good condition . An elegant style and a warm light yellow to rose gold colour
No marks ,testing for around 15 ct gold.
By 1830 , 18ct gold was allowed to be hallmarked but nothing less.
Both the front and the back are identical with a central unengraved cartouche and very fine circular engine turned decoration. The rim has allover foliate decoration as does parts of the bale.
The foliate engraved gold rim also tests for 15 ct gold but may will be filled with pitch . It helped prevent too much pressure on raised areas causing dints. One or two points of wear to the ornate gold when closely inspected,.
The two inner closing rings are silver , as is a central retaining ring. Everything else is gold, it is a good size locket.

The diameter is 1.4 inch. Length including the bale is 2 inch.
The weight is 17.5 gm.
This style was popular in the Georgian period but continued in popularity for some time.which is why it could have contained hair, a miniature portrait or an early photo. C1830
