I think I've studied almost every photo of Luke's shirt and finally have perfected my pattern...it's now as screen-accurate as I can probably achieve!
The shirts in the photos above were made and sold previously; a shirt made for you will be constructed the same but in your size; they are not one-size-fits-all.
I try to source vintage 100% cotton or a linen blend fabric to make this shirt. Each shirt will differ a bit in the texture or weight depending
on the fabric used.
The original movie costume tunic was 'styled' on a karate gi and has similarities without being an actual gi. Luke's shirt has a surplice front finished with a 2" wide band. The tunic wraps like a robe in front and secures at the waist with sturdy snaps. Side slits complete the realistic look. Seams are neatly finished on the inside and garment is machine washable/dryable. As you wear the shirt for your cosplay you will probably sweat in it and add your own wear and tear to the shirt. Think of everything Luke went through wearing this shirt!!
No two shirts will look exactly the same in tone or fabric, some may have minimal flaws or markings due to the nature of vintage fabric. I imagine that you might run into someone at Celebration or ComicCon whose shirt I made but yours won't match theirs exactly.
For best screen accuracy, the shirt should fit loosely on your body, hem a little long, with longish sleeves.
To make the shirt for you I'll need a few measurements which I'll ask you for following purchase. You'll need a soft tape measure to take your measurements.
I can make the shirt in almost any ADULT size, simply convo and touch base with me if you have any questions before ordering.

NEW 2026
I'm offering an upgraded version of the tunic that is fully bag- lined. Basically this involves 2 tunics, one inside the other acting as a lining. There are no exposed seams and no way to easily alter this tunic. This method requires 2 layers of fabric, and hand sewing making the cost higher. This version is shown in last 2 pics, on mannequin and showing inside of finished garment.

This tunic is beautiful and lovingly crafted. Jill found a gorgeous, buttery soft Lyocell fabric in her supply and it already gives it so much character even before I apply any weathering.
