As someone who is focusing on upcycling a lot, I have a lot of fabric that I just cannot do anything with. This includes seams from clothes, small bits leftover from projects, and the like. Some pieces might have been unusable due to rips, stains, discoloration, and more.

Most people would toss these scraps out, but I think that it would be better suited for use in stuffing pillows and the like. In fact, I use this for filling any pillows, pincushions, and more that I make. It is a great way to reuse fabric to make new crafts!

1 pound of this stuffing fits densely inside of a standard brown lunch bag. When less densely packed, it should be able to fill a 10"x10" throw pillow nicely.

I used to make the stuffing by hand, using just a pair of scissors, but that was really hard on my hands. So I have since got a used paper shredder to help me make this filling! The paper shredder is powered by 100% renewable energy. In this case, wind energy from my energy provider! I do often combine the two as well, mixing hand-cut pieces with the machine shredded parts.

The fiber content of this stuffing is mostly cotton, with maybe some polyester and nylon from thread, embroidery, etc, from the clothes. Other fibers are natural and vegan (no animal products in here, although I do have a listing for stuffing made from wool, silk, and the like.), and these fibers include viscose, linen, rayon, hemp, ramie, etc.

It is heavier than most forms of stuffing and is not as comfortable as typical polyfill, but it is still a good alternative, and it does not shed microplastics when washed.
