This traditional design dates back to the Edo period (1603–1868), when people created their own bags by sewing together cloth, inspired by Western-style bags.
Because it wast wasmade by people of Azuma (the old name for Edo, now Tokyo), it became known as the Azuma bag.
Born from a culture that values simplicity, resourcefulness, and caring for what we use, the Azuma bag reflects the Japanese spirit of using things thoughtfully and for a long time.
Lightweight, durable, and versatile, it fits naturally into modern everyday life.
