4 oz Brown Pima Cotton, Easy to Spin, combed top, roving, spinning fiber, natural color plant fiber, vegan, 4 oz braid, earth friendly
Materials: pima cotton
This naturally brown Pima cotton has been processed with hand spinners in mind. It has been processed to preserve more of its natural attributes resulting in handspinner-friendly sliver that is a joy to spin! This cotton was raised with a minimum of chemicals and was processed into sliver using a special technique created by Joan Ruane.
Cotton needs a lot of twist and is easier to spin on a fast ratio wheel, a great wheel or a tahkli spindle. Cotton sliver is directional, spinning from one end creates a smooth yarn while the other end may cause slubs. The slubs can be double drafted out or the sliver can be turned to spin from the other end. There is no need to boil cotton yarns if you do not intend to dye it. Soaking in hot water with a mild detergent (we recommend Unicorn products) will set the twist and clean the yarn. You can darken the color with a soak in hot tap water and household ammonia at a ratio of 2 quarts water to 3/4 oz ammonia.
Cotton is known and used worldwide. There is evidence that cotton fiber was grown in Egypt around 12,000 BC. The cotton plant is native to North America, South America, Asia and Africa. Cotton can be dyed into vibrant colors with procion dyes.

Gorgeous fiber. Amazing natural color. Quick shipping.
Beautiful fiber, shipped quickly, and lovely to work with.
Once again, this Finn wool is delightful. The loft and color are both amazing. I loved how it spun up and (sorry I don't knit but...) I think it would make the perfect background for colorwork.
