Canon ELPH APS Film Camera in Box with Case and Manual
Vintage from the 1990s
Offered here is a Canon ELPH IX 240 APS camera in its original box with its case and manual. The camera and all included elements are in excellent condition, and are both fully functional and aesthetically beautiful.
The Canon ELPH IX 240 was released in the mid-1990s as a compact point and shoot camera. The ELPH cameras used the Advanced Photo System (APS) file format for still photography, and were known for being very compact and stylish. Shortly following the EPLH product line was the Digital ELPH series, which remains in production today.
This model is the first camera in the ELPH series, and was, at the time of its release, the world’s smallest autofocus zoom camera. This as well as its stylish exterior contributed to its popularity. The camera’s lens utilizes a hybrid active/passive autofocus system, which uses both an infrared rangefinder and a CCD sensor to ensure accurate focusing. The lens is a 24-48mm F4.5-6.2 unit.
This camera uses APSC film, which Kodak produced a version of called Advantix. This film is no longer made, but may be available from third-party vendors. The film loading and rewinding was a particularly attractive feature of this camera, in that the device had auto loading and automatic operations using a built-in motor.
This was certainly an interesting and pivotal camera in Canon’s film history. It would make a very interesting and fashionable addition to a collection or display.

Had an issue when I received this camera. I promptly contacted Jeff and we made plans to exchange. He honors his exchange policy and I am so happy for it. I have since sent over 100 shots through the camera and it has worked flawlessly. Very happy, thank you
I was disappointed after receiving this item b/c there were some dust smears visible through the viewfinder. This is the camera I used to learn photography. It was Nikon's beginner's SLR sold '82-'86. I tested this with 6 different film types noting the camera functioned well and smudging did not impact the images. my old one went out. I used it pretty heavy 2 years. Sparingly after. Stopped taking a battery charge. This is not the Nikon that lasts a lifetime and does not approach the quality of intermediate Nikons at the time and was priced about $150 in '84. Good: it is very light & compact. Has programmed, AP & manual modes. I bought this to replace an old gift. Bad: It is full of plastic parts and potential problems that won't be worth fixing. It's a learner and is good for that but don't expect years of continual use.
As described, works well. My first roll came out so nicely! Had no problems with the camera, but learning how to use older cameras has a learning curve.
First time ever ordering from Etsy and found this cute little camera shop. Was extremely nervous however, their customer service was impeccable and answered all my many questions straight away. I've just received my camera and it's in perfect shape :) super excited to start using it.
