Seriously, how Danish is The Knotty Dane?

Pretty darn Danish. His father was born in Denmark 🇩🇰 and immigrated to the US in 1957. His maternal grandfather immigrated in the 1920s and his mother’s maternal grandparents also immigrated from Denmark. The Knotty Dane’s 23andme profile says he is over 98% northern European. He has immediate relatives named Gunner, Hanney, Svend, Grethe (and Greta), Jens, Olga, Tove, Annalise, Dogmar, Rikke, Mogens and other great Danish names. He is, honestly, quite Danish.

Where does The Knotty Dane get wood for his projects?

Most of my wood is reclaimed in one way or another, generally from the cut piles of local cabinet shops or from a local builder’s remnant outlet. If you are in the Twin Cities, and looking for materials, I recommend Builder Material Outlet in Eagan, JB Woodfitter in Lakeville and Forest Products in Maplewood/White Bear Lake. They each have a decent selection of materials at low prices. I also buy things at Habitat Restores in the area and off Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace.

Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and US Territories

We will ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and US Territories, but the free shipping guarantee is not applicable. If you request shipping to one of these areas, we will contact you after your order and let you know how much you owe for shipping, which will be the difference between shipping in the continental US vs. the actual price of shipping to you.

Packages Lost in Transit

The Knotty Dane is not responsible for items lost in transit, shown as delivered (but not received), or stolen. When an item is lost in transit, or shows in tracking as delivered, but is not received by the buyer, then it is the buyer's responsibility to make a claim with the courier and/or through Etsy's Buyer Protection Program. Some credit cards also have purchase protection and buyers claiming a lost, missing or stolen package may be able to make a claim with their credit card.

Items Damaged in Transit

If an item is damaged in transit, please contact The Knotty Dane. For items shipped first class mail, the buyer will need to make a claim with Etsy under its buyer protection program (covers up to $250). For items shipped USPS priority mail or UPS Ground, shipping includes $100 of insurance. It is the buyer's responsibility to make the damage claim with the carrier. If the item is over $100 and shipped USPS priority mail or UPS Ground, the buyer will need to first make a claim with the carrier and make a secondary claim with Etsy under its buyer protection program for the amount over $100 (up to $250 total).
