"Feathers with Ogham Writing: Análaigh - Breathe"
This is a large format print, sized 13 by 19 inches, of my original watercolor paintings. These are printed on professional quality, heavyweight matte paper with vivid Epson inks. Each one is signed on the back and carefully packaged in a mailing tube.
Análaigh means breathe in Gaelic - written in Ogham on the shaft of each feather. Ogham is primitive Celtic writing, dating back to the 4th century. Included are the feathers of a blue jay, snowy owl, and raven.
Ravens are prevalent in Celtic mythology, often symbolizing power and protection, and are messengers of wisdom and prophecy. Snowy owls, or white owls in general, often symbolize wisdom and endurance. In Celtic mythology, Arianrhod is frequently represented by a white owl. She is known as the Welsh Goddess of the Silver Wheel - the Star and Moon Goddess - associated with fertility and the circle of life. Blue Jays often symbolize protection, fearlessness, truth, faithfulness and loyalty. They are in the same bird family as crows and ravens, Corvidae.
Breathe - So many meanings, so many undertones, so many interpretations, yet so simple. Just breathe.
