Leica Elmarit-M Wide-Angle 28mm F2.8 Version II Lens + Original Lens Shade # 12501, Catalog # 11801

Offered here is a Leica Elmarit-M 28mm F2.8 Version II lens with its original lens shade, number 12501. This was the second of four total versions of this lens model, as each saw major optical redesigns.
Version II was made in Canada, while version I was made in Wetzlar. This version has a quite different design with eight elements, four each side of the diaphragm, one cemented pair just in front of the diaphragm and one in the middle behind it. The mount is similar to that of the first version, except for the back protrusion and so it is suitable for use of the M5 and CL. It will also work well on M-digital cameras.
The minimum focusing distance is 0.7 meters, and the minimum aperture is F22. This lens takes E48 or Series VII filters. This lens replaced the 28mm Summaron when it was released. Exposure metering is possible with this model, though it is not an ASPH lens, thus the lower price point. This is a great lens for a great price to add to your Leica-M collection, and a great match for your M5!
