These are vintage records that have been used unless otherwise noted on some rare sealed records. Record grading can be subjective and confusing because everyone has their own system with which the range could be very wide/different. Some grading systems are more conservative while others may be very free, relaxed in their grading. I’ve researched and I am using the Goldmine Records rating with an edited version of my own added. I try to be as accurate in details describing the album conditions to the best of my knowledge.

Rating is general for rating volume record grading, so not everything in the descriptions may apply.

NRMT (Near Mint) – Usually the highest grade. No visible flaws with glossy record surface.

NM covers are free of creases, ring wear and seam splits of any kind.

VG++ (Very Good Plus Plus) – Minimal marks. Great condition. Only the slightest of wear, certainly no deep scratches.

VG++ Covers are near mint with very minor shelf wear.

VG+ (Very Good Plus) - Light wear. Still in very nice condition. May show some signs of wear, including light scuffs or light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling such as telltale marks around the center hole, but repeated playing has not misshapen the hole. There may be some light ring wear or discoloration, but it’s barely noticeable.

VG+ covers show minor wear from shelf and age. Might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom.

VG (Very Good) – Shows moderate wear. In Good condition for age of record with more wear than VG+ rating. Vinyl may have scratches and/or other visual blemishes, and plays nicely. Some groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches that may be deep enough to feel with a fingernail. Light surface noise and/or crackle may be present during quiet passages or between tracks.

VG covers will have many signs of human handling. Ring wear in the middle or along the edges of the cover where the edge of a record would reside, is obvious, though not overwhelming. Some more creases might be visible. Seam splitting will be more obvious; it may appear on all three sides, though it won’t be obvious upon looking.

G (Good) – Lots of wear, but still very playable. May have a few skips or minor repeating. More surface wear than VG, like VG rating it may have surface noise and groove wear, scratches and the label ring shows wear, may have writing on it.

G cover has heavy ring wear, has seam splits and may have writing on the cover. Writing on cover is usually something like the name of the previous record owner.
