Gorgeous and Rare "Cottage" iron garden chairs ~!! A pair of outstanding Antique Victorian Aesthetic French Art Nouveau Heavy Wrought Iron Botanical Sculpture French Country Organic Scrolled Ornate Garden Chairs...entirely hand forged.

Blacksmiths in America popularized Wrought Iron garden furniture from the 1890's to the 1920s, whereas many of the period Cast Iron garden pieces originated from the Coalbrookdale Cast Iron Foundry in the UK during the industrial revolution. When factories closed in the Depression many warehouses sat full of inventory until the 1960's and 70's when the storage remains were purchased by import businesses which brought limited quantities into the market place years after manufacturing. Later reproductions in the 1990s from Mexico entered the market import businesses to replace inventory but those pieces were a much lighter weight metal.

These show their original Verdigris Patina depth with tiny touches of rust. You will find beautiful aqua and turquoise forest greens verdigris within the black.

Double rod curled arm rests. Botanical leaves surround the chairs, on its back as well as its legs, both sides and backs...beautiful aesthetic period architectural design. Seat of heavy iron straps with scroll work. Ornate scrolled cross stretcher base. Graceful Art Nouveau triple rod splayed legs end in pad feet. Very comfy for sitting too~!

Well built and hardy, heavy, in well preserved original aged antique condition. Each chair is unique with subtle variations since these are a hand made production, as one chair has rods a tiny fraction larger than the other, really hard to notice. Wonderful finds~!! Unique and one of a kind pair of Victorian hand made 19th Century artisan foundry garden art~~!! Perfect for a Country Southern Victorian Veranda or Patio as well as can be used indoors in any room.
