The bow tie originated among Croatian mercenaries during the Prussian war of the 17th century: the Croat mercenaries used a scarf around the neck to hold together the opening of their shirts. This was soon adopted by the upper classes in France (these neck wears were called the cravats), then a leader in fashion, and flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Absolutely love my garter! It looks exactly like the pictures and I can tell it was made with attention to detail. The only issue I had with this product is shipping. Since it came internationally I had to sign for the package and I ended up missing the carrier so I had to retrieve the item at the post office. Definitely worth it though because it’s beautiful!
