24-Cell Hyperdiamond I Ching Meditation Dice

Consult the oracle, with the help of the fourth dimension!

The Book of Changes has been consulted for many millennia, using a variety of different techniques, from Yarrow Stalks to Coin tossing. This set of dice was designed to emulate the probabilities of these methods, while simplifying the process.

Each dice is designed around the ultra symmetrical 24 Cell, also known as a hyperdiamond, which is a unique 4 Dimensional polygon. In the same family of shapes as the Hypercube (also known as tesseract), the 24 Cell is comprised of 24 identical Octahedrons. Within each inset face of the largest octahedron, there is one of the 8 trigrams. Two trigrams together form the 64 hexagrams. Each dice also contains 6 mini 3-sided "changing" dice, which correspond to the lines of each trigram that may be in a "changing" state.

To cast these dice, toss them one at a time, or designate white or black as above and below. Arrange the two dice such that the inset trigrams are visible and aligned as one over the other to form the hexagram. Looking from the top, you can notice which of the 6 lines of the hexagram are changing (see images).
