This brass cuff bracelet with a hare design etched onto a raw brass cuff bracelet which has been hand formed in my home studio. This imagery imagery of running and leaping hares on a patterned landscape has been etched using environmentally friendly techniques and hand formed to create a completely unique piece.
The Hare is a creature of speed and grace and has infiltrated every culture across the globe as a symbol of abundance and rebirth, but also as a warning not to cross or destroy it: This ideology can be interpreted as a warning not to work in conflict to Mother Nature herself - else suffer the consequences and ill effects of such a dire mistake. In Chinese mythology, the sacred hare lived in the moon, and upon the moons rise offerings made of fine fruit, sweet cakes and red aramanth would be made to honour the moon goddess and the spirit of the moon hare. To Native Americans, Michabo the Great Hare creates the world anew after the Great Flood. In Europe, the hare is sacred and beloved of Eastre, Goddess of the East, the rising sun, fertility and returning spring. The Easter Hare lays Easter Eggs to celebrate birth, children and everlasting youth.
Most of my original designs are produced both by hand and digitally and applied to the metal via a lengthy and complicated process to create an original, wearable piece of artwork.
