ABOUT THE WRITER

louisa may alcott, an american novelist and author of little women, was an abolitionist and feminist who remained unmarried throughout her life. she was active in the women's suffrage movement and used male pen names early in her career. her family suffered from financial difficulties, and writing became an outlet for her as she worked to help support them. little women is loosely based on her childhood experiences with her three sisters.
