Exceptions / non-returnable/refundable items

The decision to make handmade products non-returnable or non-refundable may be based on several factors:

Handmade products, like any other type of product, can vary in terms of return and refund policies depending on the specific seller or store. The decision to make handmade products non-returnable or non-refundable may be based on several factors:

Customisation: Handmade products are often customised or made to order according to the buyer's specific preferences or requirements. Once a personalised item has been created, it may be challenging for the seller to resell it to another customer, which can make returns and refunds impractical.

Labor and Materials Costs: Handmade products typically involve a significant amount of labor and craftsmanship, along with the cost of materials. If a customer returns a handmade item, the seller may incur losses due to the time, effort, and expenses involved in creating the product.

Artistic Variability: Handmade items often have a unique, artistic quality, and individual variations may be expected or even celebrated. Buyers should be aware that minor variations in colour, texture, or design may occur in handmade goods and may not necessarily qualify for a refund.

Small-Scale Production: Many handmade sellers are small-scale artisans or crafters who may not have the resources or infrastructure to handle a high volume of returns or refunds. For them, the policy may be a practical necessity.

Clear Communication: Sellers of handmade products often provide detailed descriptions, images, and communication with buyers to ensure that the product meets the buyer's expectations. If a buyer proceeds with a purchase after reviewing this information, they may be seen as accepting any variations or unique qualities of the handmade item.

While some sellers of handmade products may have strict no-return, no-refund policies, others may offer more flexible policies, depending on the nature of the product and the seller's business practices. Before purchasing a handmade item, it's essential to review the seller's policies and engage in clear communication to understand what to expect in terms of returns and refunds. If there are concerns about a specific policy, potential buyers can reach out to the seller to discuss their individual circumstances or seek clarification.

In our shop certain types of items cannot be returned, like:

1. Bespoke products (such as made to measure orders or personalised items).

2. Timber stained products (wood stain colours can vary. Different type of wood absorb stain differently. The age and condition of the wood can impact how it accepts the stain. Older wood may have a different colour and patina than newer wood, which can affect the final appearance. Even within the same type of wood, there can be natural variations in colour and grain pattern. This can result in differences in how the wood takes the stain. Therefore we don’t accept returns due to colour variations. If colour accuracy is critical for your project, please request bare wood product).

3. Ceramic products (handmade ceramics are crafted by artisans, and each piece can exhibit slight variations in colour, texture, glaze, or design due to the artistic and manual nature of the production process. Buyers of handmade ceramics are often aware of and appreciate these variations as part of the charm and uniqueness of the product|).

4. Overseas orders (smaller businesses or artisans may lack the resources to efficiently process overseas returns, making it more practical for them to establish non-refundable policies).

5. Sale items and gift cards

Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
