Danu in Celtic mythology is the goddess of creation, the mother-progenitor of the main group of the gods of Celtic mythology, the powerful and beautiful Tuats, who entered the legends as the Tribe of the goddess Danu (Tuatha de Danann - the Tribe of gods, whose mother is Danu), who ruled Ireland before the arrival of the Sons of Mil (people), the ancestors of the modern Irish.
Danu was recognized as the Mother - the progenitor of the gods. On the one hand, Danu is the goddess of fertility and abundance, that is, of everything that grows and develops, on the other, the goddess of the underworld, the world of death. Danu is the goddess of light and water. Quite often she is considered as the hypostasis of the Great Mother of the Divine Creator or the Great Mother of the Planet Earth.
