Crochet this lovely Scandinavian inspired Christmas tree for yourself or as a gift with this pattern.
I’m keen on recycling wool and scour thrift shops looking for old sweaters to unravel and repurpose. A vintage 100% wool Aran fisherman’s sweater seemed perfect for Christmas decorations as the off-white yarn looked great against red. Reminiscent of Scandinavian decorations, this tree is crocheted in one piece and decorated with dark red wooden beads.
This pattern is designed for an Aran or worsted weight wool (the coarser and scratchier the better!) – suggestions for wool you may like to use include: Lion Brand Wool Ease, Cascade 220, Paintbox Yarns Wool Blend Worsted or Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice.
The finished tree will be around 8 ½ inches tall, is crocheted in one piece (apart from the base) so only a couple of ends to weave in, needs no sewing and should be stiff enough to stand on its own but if not, stuffing can be used to give it shape.
Once purchased, you will be able to download two patterns - one using US crochet terminology and one using UK terminology.

- Crochet hook size 7 / 4.5mm
- One 100g ball of Aran or worsted yarn in cream or color of your choice.
- 47 dark red beads with an approximate diameter of ¼ inch (6mm) and 5/64 inch (2mm) hole.
- Tapestry/darning needle for threading beads and sewing in ends.
- Stuffing (if desired)
