This is such fantastic furniture! So many wonderful features! Based on research, the underlying wood structure is solid pecan. This retro piece has been lacquered white and is the original finish. "Wicker Weve by Dixie" is stamped inside a drawer bottom. The woven wicker basket-weave effect on the three drawer fronts is actual carved wood and there is real caning on the cabinet door! The wrapped look on the rounded edges is completely solid turned wood. The double dresser rests on a plinth base and has an indestructible white laminate top. All 3 drawers have the familiar campaign style pulls in beautiful chrome/silver. The dovetail drawers open and close smoothly. The shelf inside the storage cabinet is adjustable. There are the usual age related nicks and rubs to the finish and some color fluctuations that happen with time. This would be an easy piece to whitewash or just leave it chippy! Solid and well built, this vintage buffet or credenza will easily last another 70 years with care. Please feel free to ask questions.
