How to take care of my Rugs?

Clean with a vacuum cleaner or shake out regularly. Do not pull loose ends, clip them with scissors to remove. Spot clean with mild soap and water. Always allow to air dry and never place your mat on a damp floor. Use it in a sheltered entryway. Do not wash in washing machine or dry clean. It’s possible that during the first wash, the mat could release some of it’s color which may be normal. Shedding will dissipate after a few weeks of use.

What is Fique (Premium Sisal)?

Is one of the most durable and strong natural fibers. In other words, it is Sisal but thinner and more flexible. It is of higher quality and much more durable than regular Sisal. Fique is a natural fiber that grows in the leaves of plants in some regions of the Andes in South America. It's fibers were usually woven into rough sacks to store and carry coffee and cacao beans. Today Fique is used to make all kinds of rugs, some luxury carpets combine even fique with cooper and gold threads.

What is Seje (planters natural fiber)?

Seje is a palm tree very similar to the coconut. It is not as thick, and has large number of flowers. The palm sheds the flowers to the ground, and they are treated and used for the handcrafting of different items such as our flower pots.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

For cleaning and care, use a damp clean cloth with a bit of soap. Do not sumerge in water. It can be ironed by laying a damp cloth on top in between the placemat and the iron. Do not wash in washing machine or dry clean.

NATURAL FIQUE FIBER (PREMIUM SISAL)

Fique is one of the most durable and strong natural fibers, same as Sisal but thinner. It’s similar to the Agave plant in its appearance.

The fique plant has been historically grown mostly to produce fiber that was then woven into rough sacks to store and carry coffee and cacao beans.

The plant grows in the Andean regions of Colombia.
Fique fiber is Sustainable, it requires small amounts of water and it doesn’t need any pesticide or chemical to grow.
