Start by placing a measuring tape around the large part of your chest (chest) to make your chest comfortable, then use the chart to determine the size.
You will be able to lengthen or shorten any pattern as you prefer.

Minimal fabric consumption: Fabric width 60 in, length 1.75 yard.

I honestly only used the pattern for the sleeves. I was making an ao dai (traditional Vietnamese clothes), but I always had trouble with the shoulders, so I bought this so I can Frankenstein my patterns together. I did have a little bit of trouble, but the seller was very nice and quick at replying. I realized the mistake I did ( I forgot to look at the instructions and was just guessing) but after talking to the seller and looking at the instructions, it was really easy to put together, and making an actual button up shirt wouldn't be to hard.
