THESE PIECES ARE PLANED SMOOTH ON BOTH FACES. THIS IS HIGH QUALITY KILN-DRIED WOOD. SELECT AND BETTER GRADE (GRADE A). WE ALSO OFFER THE CHOICE TO GET IT ROUGH (10 B.F. PACK) SO YOU CAN SAVE SOME MONEY AND DO THE MILLING YOURSELF.
The Guitar Neck Blanks option is 15"/16" x 4" x 30" Kiln dried... a PERFECT start to a BEAUTIFUL finish.

The SxS designation simply refers to how many sides have been pre-surfaced. S2S= surfaced two sides, S3S = surfaced three sides and s4s = surfaced four sides.
S2S – The board has been run through a planer producing two flat faces, but the edges are left rough.
S3S – The board has been surfaced S2S first, then one edge is ripped straight (also known as SLR1E or straight line ripped one edge).
S4S – The board has been surfaced on both faces (S2S) and received a rip on both edges, resulting in a board with two flat and parallel faces and two flat and parallel edges.
** Due to the nature of wood movement, shrinkage and expansion are possible. Please measure each piece carefully before starting any project. Wood is a product of nature, and as such, no two pieces are alike to start with, while the same wood growing in different locales can vary greatly even though it is the exact same species.
Dimensions are +/- 1/8" of size listed. For exact measurements message us to see what we can do for you depending on inventory.

I was leery about buying Birdseye Maple without being able to see it myself before purchase. I went on reviews from folks who purchased from this site and hoped I would not be disappointed. When the delivery came I rushed to open the package and view the boards, WOW the pieces on the outside of the wrapped group had amazing bird’s eyes! Neatly wrapped and boards are not warped or twisted. I am very satisfied with what I see so far. Now to get started on the box I have been requested to make for a friend.

THANK YOU SO MUCH and yes I remember those pieces came out very nice looking after we milled them. Not all boards are that pretty, some are prettier while others doesn’t have much Bird’s eyes. Thank you again!
Bird's Eye Maple boards arrived on time and were very well dimensioned. No blemishes or other defects. Unfortunately, they only had roughly 20% of the "bird's eyes" I was hoping for. They were almost indistinguishable from regular maple. Had I been browsing through a brick & mortar store, I would have rejected these and waited for better. Ironically, I went on line because my local stores (Rockler, Woodcraft, et al.) didn't have anything good either, so I ordered online. There's always a risk there, but I used the wood anyway. The seller DID warn me that they mill-to-order, and really don't know what they'll get. First world problem, right? "There's not enough eyes in my maple!" I would certainly buy from these folks again in a pinch, like any other mail order. I much prefer to choose my wood in person. Sometimes you can't.
