Custom and personalized orders

I am often happy to accept custom orders, as long as they are within my capabilities. Custom orders do sometimes require me to order special hardware or materials, and often take a little extra time so please reach out, and we'll get an idea of the process together!

For buckle collars: Measure your dog comfortably around the neck, where he or she wears a collar with a fabric measuring tape (or a string, and measure that against a measuring tape). Be sure to allow 2 or 3 fingers worth of slack under the tape or string. Select the collar size that includes that measurement. If your dog is in between sizes, be sure to let me know the exact measurement, and I'll make your measurement one of the middle sizes. For slip collars: Please check the listing photos for a size guide. If you'd like a different width x length collar than I have listed, I'm happy to make it for you! Please reach out before ordering, and I'll let you know how to select your collar.

Remove surface dirt right away with a dry cloth. If necessary, use diluted dish detergent or distilled vinegar using as little pressure as you can. Dry fully. If your new leather item starts to feel dry, apply a mink oil PASTE to condition, protect, and increase your leather's lifespan. It will temporarily darken some leathers (don't panic!), then lighten again. Apply sparingly. Natural leather WILL darken with age and wear. Distressed leather will show scratches. If your leather is stiff at first, it will soften up with time. You can speed up the process by rolling it between your hands, and bending it back and forth. These leathers are water resistant but not water proof. Brass and copper ID tags can be de-tarnished with Brasso.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All orders ship in kraft boxes with tissue paper. Gift wrapping is available for an additional charge, and will include time-of-year appropriate wrapping paper, ribbon and hand-written to/from tag if you leave me instructions. I will also type up your included gift note to include in the box.

Handmade, bridle leather. This leather is dyed and finished on both sides, and won't transfer color. It is water resistant, but NOT water proof! Like all natural leathers, it will show age with time, and develop a rich patina and become a truly unique, one of a kind piece.

WATER AND YOUR LEATHER

- Do NOT let your dog swim in these collars and leashes. Rain drops/dew/drool/etc are okay. Should your collar or leash get any more than surface water, remove it ASAP and allow it to dry thoroughly, longer than you think it should. Try to apply a coat of mink oil or olive oil as the oils in the leather will have been stripped, once the leather is FULLY dry.
