Buckwheat Titi
AKA Ironwood / Black Titi
Cliftonia Monophylla

Buckwheat Titi is a rare Florida Native tree that produces beautiful fragrant flowers in the early spring.
The honey made from these flowers is a local delicacy.
Seed pods will form throughout the late summer and into fall.
The unique 'Buckwheat' looking seed pods will be ready for picking by winter.

These trees grow to 15 to 30 feet tall and 3 to 6 feet wide.
It is a long-lived perennial commonly found near marshes, swamps, and floodplains.
Buckwheat Titi grows well in zones 7-9.

Butterflies and bees love to visit the early spring-time flowers.
Birds and other wildlife enjoy munching on the winter-time seeds.

These seeds were harvested November 2023

Seed Starting

Soak in warm water overnight
Place in a bag of soil and put in fridge for 60 days.

Sow seeds 1/4" deep, tamp soil & mulch
Seedlings will emerge in 4-6 weeks
