Boot Retainer

Boot Retainer for Toyota 86 when you want to replace the stock automatic transmission shifter knob. Most replacement shifter knobs do not have any means of attaching or securing the boot to the shifter knob. Unlike the stock automatic shifter knob, which came with a groove modeled into its bottom for the boot to attach. I wanted to replace the stock shift knob that came with the car, but none of the shift knobs I wanted to get came with a boot retaining function designed into them. They came with a thread adapter, but nothing to hold the boot in-place or seal the open in the top of the boot, So I designed one based on the stock shift knob. It went through several design changes and used different materials until I settled on the current design

The Boot Retainer is made from ABS so it can withstand the high temperatures vehicles interiors can get to during the summer. It is internally threaded to M10X1.25 so it can be thread onto the automatic shifting rod, separately from installing your preferred replacement shifter knob. You might have some difficult when installing the Boot Retainer onto the threaded metal shifter rod depending on how tight the fit is from the friction between metal and plastic. I had to use a pair of pliers with electrical tape rap around the plier's jaws to aid in threading the boot retainer on your desired height.

Note: I have only installed this Boot Retainer onto Toyota 86. It should work on FRS and the BRZ, since they are basically the same vehicle, but I cannot guarantee it will work since I have no tried.
