Can you put it on hold?

Items may be placed on hold for a defined and limited period of time, at the sole discretion of DC Silver. Hold duration and terms must be agreed to in advance. Items not purchased within the agreed hold period may be released and made available for sale without further notice.

Offers may be submitted at the buyer’s discretion. Submission of an offer does not create a contract or obligation to sell. DC Silver reserves the right to accept, reject, or ignore any offer for any reason.

How do you date your items

All date estimates are opinions only, based on available comparative sales (“comps”), reference materials, industry forums, and professional experience. Dates are not guarantees and should be understood as approximations.

Why won't you fulfill my order?

DC Silver reserves the right to refuse service or cancel any order, including but not limited to circumstances involving pricing errors, fluctuations in precious-metal markets, inventory discrepancies, or item availability. If an order is canceled prior to shipment, any payments received will be refunded.

I want to return an item. Can I have a full refund?

Buyers may return items for any reason within 14 calendar days of receipt. After the 14-day return period, all sales are final, and DC Silver assumes no further liability related to authenticity, attribution, or description, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Unclaimed / Returned Items?

If an item is returned to DC Silver as unclaimed, undeliverable, or “return to sender,” the buyer will be notified and given the opportunity to arrange reshipment at their expense. If no response is received within 60 calendar days of notification, the item will be considered abandoned property and may be resold. No refund will be issued for abandoned items.

Offered here is a lovely heavy gauge French 800 silver tablespoon set with classic lines and celtic point terminal. Marked with bigorne mark on the front of stem, provincial mark for Strasbourg (65), gross garantie for 800 silver, and marked with the R under etoile maker mark as well as maker name ROEDERER. Recently recovered from upstate NY. Condition is very good.

These were found in Rochester and are hand engraved "Kuichling" (one was not engraved but is also by Roederer. The spoons likely belonged to Dr. Louis Kuichling who took part in the revolution of 1848, "but on its early collapse was imprisoned at Strasbourg and sentenced to death. By a bold strategy his escape from prison was effected, whereupon he made his way to the United States" and settled in Rochester in 1850. Dr. Kuichling, who had been imprisoned as a revolutionist, escaped to this country. His escape was carried out in the following manner: the wife and a woman friend went to the prison to pay him a visit. The friend exchanged clothing with him and remained behind in the prison" while Dr. Kuichling walked out in womens' clothing, in the company of his wife. He fled first to Switzerland and then to the United States, where he rejoined his wife and children.
