The Story Behind These Cards:

Continuing the noble tradition of the 'Travelling Artist' (a historical term from before photography's invention), these postcards feature the work of Erhard Schmidt, a German artist and teacher from Münster. Just like the famous explorer Alexander von Humboldt, who documented his discoveries through drawings, Erhard captures the world's beauty during his travels using simple, yet elegant artistic techniques.

Each illustration is created with a straightforward approach and thoughtful use of color, staying true to the classical travelling artist tradition. As one of the few remaining artists still practicing heliography, Erhard combines his passion for teaching mathematics and arts with his love for travel sketching.

These postcards aren't just greeting cards - they're pieces of a continuing artistic legacy, capturing moments from Barcelona and the USA through the eyes of a modern-day travelling artist.
