Highlights
I am pleased to offer to the Etsy Community 4 issues published by the National Aeronautics Council before the entry of the US into WW 2. Specifically, these are Issues No 27, 28, 30 Volume 5 and No. 54 Volume 9. Each issue is complete and offers amazing insight into pre- WW 2 American aviation. To both historians and people interested in the pre- WW2 days these magazines offer much insight. Consider the dilemma faced by the national government. All around the United States there was a major ongoing world-wide war. Even the Panama Canal Zone was attacked by the German military. The US was still technically in a Great Depression and there weren't too many aviators available, nor was there much money to convert a small aviation sector into what was to become the Army and Navy Air Corps. The irony of the pre-WW2 period was that our President tried everything his Office could do to get America into the European War, but Congress said "no." Even after the Japanese attack on the pacific fleet December 7, 1941, Congress would only declare war on Japan. FDR got his wish when Germany declared war on the United States when Germany bound by treaty with Japan declared war on the United States because the United States declared war on Japan. Despite this, technically the United States was at war with Japan in China, and with the Germany since Americans had enlisted in both the French and British military, without objection by the US Government. Some Americans had also been killed in China and Europe. The National Aeronautics Council was funded by the US government. It was magazines like these that drew the attention of many to be aviators. Please view the pictures and email me if you have any questions.
