Feather/ Fern moss can be found growing on moist, shaded soil, stumps, rocks, and logs.

Perfect for open or closed terrariums, living wreaths and floral arrangements, table runners, shady walkways, bathmats. This variety of moss is great for Kokedama- Japanese Moss Ball Hanging Gardens.

This beautiful moss looks like a blanket of lush, green, feathery ferns. It is, quite literally, harvested in "sheets". About a half inch thick, this mix of Feather and Fern Moss comes in various sheet sizes ~palm size to 1' x 2' ~ we harvest the biggest pieces possible~ easily torn or cut with scissors to form the shape you need.
Because our mosses are collected in a manner that sustains and supports their growth, we try to keep their foundation as intact as possible. This means there may be a bit of soil, tree bark and other natural materials attached to your moss.
We have been bringing moss into our home for many years and have NEVER had a problem with insects. We would not, knowingly, pass along moss that was infested. But mother nature is unpredictable.
One easy way to "sanitize" your moss is to place it in a lidded container with a cotton ball that has been sprayed with an insecticide. We recommend Pyrethrin- (Pyrethrums) are natural-botanical insecticides.

Mosses are very hardy and require little maintenance. The varieties we offer, thrive in full to partial shade, damp soil, and love a light misting once a week. Tap water can vary in quality. We recommend distilled or purified spring water when caring for your moss.
