7 facts about Seraphim of Sarov:
1. Before being tonsured a monk, the saint bore the name Prokhor. In the Sarov desert, the young ascetic was named Seraphim. In Hebrew, this beautiful name is translated as "fiery" or "fiery". One of the angelic ranks is called seraphim. In one name, two meanings are intertwined: fervor in faith and angelic nature.
2. Seraphim of Sarov is often depicted as praying on a stone: during his retreat, he spent a thousand nights in prayer, kneeling on a boulder and almost never leaving it. In his cell, he placed another stone on which he rested during the day. These stones have survived to this day and are located in Diveyevo.
3. The story has come down to our days when the Monk Seraphim wrote a letter to “the fourth sovereign who will come to Sarov,” and this sovereign turned out to be Nicholas II. The Emperor, having read it, wept bitterly. The content of the letter is unknown, neither the original nor copies have survived.
4. The saint was accompanied all his life by numerous miracles and visions. Even as a child, he was miraculously saved from death - he remained unharmed, having fallen from the bell tower. Several times he was miraculously healed by taking Holy Communion and venerating the miraculous image. Many times the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to him, accompanied by the saints, healing him and blessing him for certain deeds.
5. The elder greeted everyone who came to him with the words: "My joy, Christ is risen!"
Another favorite expression of the Monk Seraphim was "Acquire the Spirit of peace, and thousands around you will be saved."
6. Once, when the monk was living as a hermit in the forest, robbers attacked him. These were local peasants who decided that the saint had money in the hut. The saint did not offer them the slightest resistance, but they beat him to a pulp, after which the elder remained lame for the rest of his life. After the beating, he was ill for a long time but was healed by the Most Holy Theotokos. After this, the Monk Seraphim strictly forbade the search for and punishment of criminals. Soon they themselves brought repentance for their wickedness.
7. The Monk Seraphim was honored with such righteousness that the forest animals obeyed him. The saint was often accompanied by a bear, who, according to the testimony of the nuns of the Diveyevo monastery, obeyed him "as if reasonable."

Boards with dovetail dowels (100 * 75 mm dowels are virtual), linen canvas "pavolok", soil "levkas", high-tech printing with pigment inks directly on gesso. These cracks and sprinkling of gesso create a complete sense of antiquity. The icon is almost impossible to distinguish from the old original.
