"Wormspire is ideal for gardeners who recycle and use biologically active worm castings to augment plant media. The product includes Wormspire tube with 2 engraved wood covers. This vermicomposter is a tower design that is easily customize expandable. One can add length by inserting another section of tubing. Unlike bins, the tower design length enables use of worms that prefer different depths. Lightweight metal makes it sturdy and easily portable. As it is continuous flow (top to bottom), there are no bins to rotate. One can take compost from the bottom add add it to the top for further cycles for a more thorough composting. If you are one who likes to frequently observe worms, a tower system may not be for you due to the height. Turning the soil as in a bin is less necessary; however, one can accomplish this via a compost auger or rotating soil from the bottom to the top. The surface feeding area at the top is 0.6 ft2 which is ideal for the weekly vegetable waste of my family. The seller's communication was prompt & exemplary, and he welcomes feedback. Transport was via UPS in a well packed recyclable container. Furthermore he kindly timed the arrival to avoid my hospitalization. Construction was as stated, and he even painted it to match our home! A few tips: - start bedding “pre-composting” before delivery - order worms after bedding aged ready - allow worms time to acclimate and hydrate before installing - use a short Urban Worm Company thermometer for the lower port and a long compost thermometer up top - Kitchen composter vegetable powder is ideal to keep moisture & pests low. We use LOMI “Grow Mode” product. - Our tube, fits well in the closet set in a bin for subzero winters. - Wormspire is an ideal holiday gift as first harvest may take 6 months; just in time for Spring planting.
