Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, in the Rust Belt of America, Midwest living and culture are instilled in me. I've been building things since I was a toddler. Beginning with Lego, moving to plastic airplane models, and then realistic dioramas all led me to study architecture at Miami University in Ohio. It didn't take me long to figure out I was enthralled with design as a broad-reaching discipline, ranging from product design, landscape design, architecture, and even designing processes. This vision allowed me to branch out to study landscape architecture at the University of Michigan where I added artistic expression and social conversation to my solutions.
Now I am an artist and designer ready to push social and environmental boundaries by creating solutions that attempt to instill a sense of ownership and committed relationship to place through the built environment. Most importantly, I'm a doer and a maker where flawless craft, attention to detail, and trueness to materials are essential elements of my works. I am interested in cultural + sustainable design, innovative design solutions especially related to ordinary material used to create extraordinary compositions, and design for the underrepresented populations of the world. I consider my solutions humble, affordable, functional, and sustainable yet aesthetically rich and contemporary.
